Pictures and information about Berlandiera Lyrata, one of our favourite plants

It is not a very striking looking plant, a tender(ish) perennial which has silvery foliage and small yellow flowers which give the impression that each petal has been stapled on individually. However it is for the scent that we grow them. This is a strong and sweet chocolate fragrance which puts the well-known chocolate cosmos completely in the shade. The other advantage is that it readily sets hundreds of seeds. It has been difficult to obtain but for 2008 check out page 18 of Thompson and Morgan's catalogue. It has also reappeared in the Chiltern Seeds catalogue.
